Biomedical Engineer, PhD student at LIMSI, Orsay, France
Welcome to my website! I'm David. Right after high school, I studied five years at Polytech Marseille. It is an engineering school in the South of France, member of the Polytech Network (fourteen engineering schools within French leading universities). I specialized in Biomedical Engineering during three years. I did my final 6-months internship at EMA (Engineering Medical Applications), a company which develops software to manage patients' files in dialysis and nephrology. I also worked there for one year after graduation, on many projects, using several languages (PHP, Javascript, 4D and Python).
In 2017-2018, I left EMA and I did a research master degree in Virtual Reality and Smart Systems at Evry University, near Paris. In the final 6-months phase, I did an internship in a laboratory called IBISC.
Therapeutic games are popular tools for stroke rehabilitation. They aim to keep patients engaged in a heavy recovery program through training that is less annoying to follow. I took part in proposing a method to automatically adapt the difficulty of exercises for post-stroke rehabilitation games, which was then implemented in a pronation-supination exercise built on a runner-like game.
From January to August 2019, I worked as a Research Enigneer at LIMSI, which is part of CNRS, French National Centre for Scientific Research. I worked on a state-of-the-art for a project around adaptive HCI based on users personality. I focused on adaptive HCI, persuasive technologies, psychology and especially Regulatory Focus Theory and Self-Determination Theory.
Since September 2019, I am a PhD student in this same lab. My subject is "HCI adapted to the personality of users: application of motivation to physical activity". You can check my dedicated page to research here.

In my spare time, I like to explore different subjects and ideas, to improve my skills and expertise. For instance, I am currently learning Java, Bootstrap and Symfony through courses on OpenClassrooms and some books; while working on a few projects such as a new version of my website and associated subdomains (projects, multimedia library, blog), or improving my creative skills (Blender, Unity3D, Gimp). More info can be found below, or by clicking on “Projects” in the top menu.
When I'm not in front of a computer, I spend my time between roaming around, by foot or motorbike, and sports. The Alps are my favourite haven: summertime with hiking and wintertime with skiing. I love to travel, to meet new people, from new countries and cultures. I already explored a bit of Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, UK, USA… and France :)
